Samford senior Sarah Myers was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday after averaging a double-double over the past two games.
Myers, who graduated from South Forsyth in 2016, scored a career-high 27 points Thursday in a 76-60 win against East Tennessee State, shooting more than 61 percent from the floor and grabbing 10 rebounds. Myers had another double-double on Saturday in a 64-58 loss to Chattanooga, finishing with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Myers transferred from the University of Maryland during the offseason and has started all 27 games for Samford this season. Myers is averaging 13.9 points per game, which is the second-highest on the team. She leads the Bulldogs with 7.1 rebounds per game, and is fifth in the conference with 5.5 defensive rebounds per game.
