South wins if…it can replicate what it did last season with a new group of players. The Longhorns had no answer for South’s running game or passing game in a 29-point loss in 2015, and South still has Davis Shanley. South still is capable of explosive plays and jumping ahead of teams when it protects the ball.
Lambert wins if…it can find a hot hand in the backfield. Daniel has been careful with his running backs in non-region action, chopping at depth in favor of health, but now is ready to unleash his guys in region play. Justin Bruno is now an impact player at tailback, but should share carries. He’s been a huge threat in recent weeks.
