West Forsyth at South Forsyth

When, where: Friday, 7:30 p.m., at War Eagle Stadium in Cumming.

Records, rankings: West is 7-2 overall, 3-1 in Region 5-7A and ranked No. 10 in Class 7A; South is 6-3, 3-1 and unranked.

Series record: West leads 4-0.

Last meeting: West won 38-34 in 2015.

What to know: Last season was the closest South has ever been to defeating West. It’s an odd statistic that the team that preceded West by nearly two decades never had the upperhand. That could all end at War Eagle Stadium on Friday. Kiernen Hamilton vs. Davis Shanley. Guy Morra vs. Ben Bresnahan. Grant Torgerson, Max Slott, the list goes on. This game will have the stars, the big plays on offense, probably many key plays on defense and will feel like a region title game. The only way it actually becomes a region title game is if somehow, some way Central gets an upset at home against Lambert.

If that doesn’t happen, this game will decide who stays home next week and who goes on the road. The FCN has also had Torgerson and Slott neck and neck at the top of the Defensive Player of the Year race as well, so this game has sidebars that include fights for accolades from us.
