South Forsyth's Rud tabbed on Southern Conference awards list for softball

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Mercer University softball team tabbed five players on the Southern Conference awards list, as announced by the Southern Conference on Tuesday, including former South Forsyth standout Meghan Rud.

Rud was placed on the conference All-Freshmen Team as an outfielder. Rud led the conference in runs scored (49), stolen bases (30), total plate appearances (211) and walks (34), while ranking among the SoCon's top performers in at-bats (172), on-base percentage (.467), hits (62) and triples (three).

The freshman highlighted her 2015 campaign by shattering the Mercer single season stolen base record with 30, while rounding out the regular season ranking 10th on the Bear's single-season on-base percentage and hits list, third in runs scored and tied for eighth in triples.
