West Forsyth alum Mason McWhorter was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference team, the league office announced Thursday.
McWhorter, a senior at Georgia Southern, led the Eagles in three categories in 2019: home runs (12), RBIs (57) and slugging percentage (.567). He finished his junior year with a .321 batting average, logging 72 hits and scoring 46 runs in 224 at-bats — all career highs.
McWhorter has started 164 games in three seasons at Georgia Southern, slugging 27 home runs and compiling a .301 batting average.
Georgia Southern finished 35-24 overall last year, including an 18-12 mark in conference play. The Eagles received two first-place votes in the coaches' poll and were picked to finish third in the Sun Belt's east division.
