West Forsyth pitcher Avery Migues signed her letter of intent to play softball at (Div. II) Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla.

It only took one trip to Eckerd for Migues to determine where she wanted to attend college.

"I really fell in love with the campus," she said. "The coach welcomed me and reminded me of [West Forsyth] coach [Justin] Rickett."

Migues hopes to play as a freshman and is already working on a rise ball and screwball to go along with her drop ball.

"[Eckerd’s coach] wants me to be perfecting certain pitches and getting ready for the heat," Migues said. "I just want to do what I can to help the team and do [well] in my academics."

Migues plans to study marine biology.
