What to know: West is coming off a 24-21 victory at Woodstock in the opening weekend of the season, but its home opener against a Class 3A school could be its toughest game in the non-region slate—or the entire year.

Pace Academy is a healthy, well-rostered private school from northwest Atlanta and is an attractive academy for elite prospects in that area. Wide receiver Trey Blount and offensive lineman Andrew Thomas are both committed to Georgia, while running back Deon Jackson is headed to Duke. Those three will be enough for the Wolverines to handle on defense, and they’ll rely on defensive back Joey Congrove and defensive end Eli Huggins to neutralize that aspect of the Knight’s gameplan.

West also will look to bounce back on offense after a somewhat underwhelming start considering how good it was at scoring points a year ago. The Wolverines were held scoreless in the second half against Woodstock and quarterback Kiernen Hamilton finished under 50-percent in the completion percentage category.
