West Forsyth at Dacula

When, where: Friday, 7:30 p.m., at Baron Field in Dacula.

Records, rankings: West is 2-1 and unranked in Class 7A; Dacula is 1-2 and unranked in Class 6A.

Series record: Dacula leads 1-0.

Last meeting: Dacula won 36-31 in 2013.

What to know: After the big 56-35 win over Hillgrove last week the Wolverines will look to avoid a let down against the Falcons from across the eastern border.

Dacula is a battle tested team, coming off a 3-point loss to Arabia Mountain and a 30-0 loss to Mill Creek (which, honestly, at first glance looks like a respectable result against the No. 1 team in Class 7A). West hasn’t lost a full game so far this season, with its lone loss a 20-10 halftime final against a state champion in Pace Academy. West’s players feel like, especially considering the team battled early health issues, that another half against Pace could have meant a 3-0 start and quite possibly an early top-10 ranking.

The Wolverines’ offense looked unstoppable last week with Grant Torgerson scoring five touchdowns in his first game back, while Kiernen Hamilton threw for 281 yards, spreading the ball to Zach Burns, Thomas Arundale and Ben Bresnahan. Torgerson also gives West some added thump on defense, while defensive back Cade Vela had a breakout game last week with an interception and many key pass breakups.
