The West Forsyth football team lost the last leg of its rigorous non-region schedule on Friday, falling 31-14 to the McCallie School of Chattanooga in a road matchup.
The Wolverines took the first lead of the game early in the second quarter on Drew Southern’s touchdown pass to Abe Camara and carried a 7-3 lead into halftime after a field goal by the Blue Tornadoes.
McCallie dominated the second half, though, with Deangelo Hardy running in two touchdowns within 2:05 in the middle of the third quarter to take a 17-7 lead. The Wolverines struck back with a 16-yard pick-six, but two more McCallie touchdowns in the fourth quarter sealed the final score.
West, which also traveled to Camden County during non-region play and welcomed Hewett-Trussville of Alabama to its home field, enters region play with a 1-4 record.
