Tennis: West girls defeat South
Lady Wolverines improve to 4-3 in Region 6

West Forsyth’s girls tennis team fought through the cold to pick up a 4-1 victory over rival South Forsyth on Tuesday in the Region 6-AAAAAA finale. 

South’s lone victory came at No. 2 doubles, where the team of Dulce Gonzolous and Bailey Bently defeated West’s Mackenzie Latta and Madison Estes.

In singles action, West’s Emma Niemi defeated South’s Layla Darinn 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Megan Aligheri defeated Allie Wood 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Tara Harper defeated Tobi Shittabay 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. 

West’s No. 1 doubles team of Meg Moran and Haley Anderson defeated Meredith Oess and Bella Antonio. The Lady Wolverines are now 6-5 overall on the season and finished with a region record of 4-3. 

The Lady Wolverines have a chance to close out the regular season schedule on a three-game winning streak when they take on Sequoyah today in Canton.
