Fire destroyed a doublewide mobile home in northeast Forsyth Wednesday morning.

The home on Mathis Drive, near Jot Em Down and Browns Bridge roads, likely will be a total loss due to the fire damage, according Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers.

“[A 15-year-old girl] woke up to a smoke-filled home and could not make access to the home telephone,” Shivers said.

The girl got out of the home through the back door and ran to Jot Em Down Road, where she flagged down a county roads and bridges crew mowing grass in the area, he said.

The workers called 911 about 10:11 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke in the area and the home on fire.

No one else was inside at the time, Shivers said, and there were no injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, he said.

The Red Cross has been notified to assist the family.
