FORSYTH COUNTY — The public library system in Forsyth County is closer to having a new director while longtime leader Jon McDaniel prepares to enter retirement.
The system’s board of directors met behind closed doors Monday at the Post Road Library to discuss the hiring of a new director. No action was taken.
According to an email from Ruth Rice, the accounting clerk for the library system, interviews for the open position will be conducted this month in closed sessions before a final decision is made in open session Sept. 21.
McDaniel is the only director the local library system has had. After nearly 20 years at the helm, his retirement will take effect Dec. 18.
He was the driving force behind the local system’s separation from the Gwinnett-Forsyth Regional Library system and establishment in 1996.
