SOUTH FORSYTH — After the enthusiastic response to their initial event resulted in long lines, organizers of a monthly food truck rally have decided to push back the next event to accommodate more trucks.

Instead of the third Monday of the month, the second Food Trucks N’ Forsyth event will be held May 23 at the Lanier Technical College Forsyth Conference Center.

The shift comes after attendees at the April 18 event said they wished it had been more accessible and the lines shorter, according to Anna Barlow, director of tourism for the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the series with the college.

From 5-8 p.m. on May 23, June 20 and July 18, food trucks serving dinner and dessert will be parked in Lanier Tech’s parking lot, which is off Ronald Reagan Boulevard behind The Collection at Forsyth.

There will be an additional three dinner trucks and one more dessert truck in May, said Sara Harrison, director of the conference center.

The date had to be pushed back to meet the 30-day permit deadline from the public health department, she said.

Balloons Over Georgia will offer tethered hot air balloon rides when weather permits, and live music will enhance the experience.

Some tables will be set up, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs if they want to hang around for a while.
