A popular networking event that began last year soon will return.

The Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce will present the 2014 Business Showcase from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Lanier Technical College Forsyth Conference.

Laura Stewart, the chamber’s director of communications and events, said the showcase is similar to the organization’s annual Business Expo, which is presented each summer.

“This event is a miniature, shorter version of the Business Expo,” she said. “It is heavily focused on rapid-fire networking and fun.”

The showcase, she said, also serves a lower cost option for businesses since booths are available for $100.

“While the area’s large corporations do take part, this event is very popular with the chamber’s small business sector,” Stewart said. “Few networking opportunities exist that can provide such a great reach for $100.”

She said booths at the event are filling fast.

“We are encouraging businesses to secure their spots soon as we are already two-thirds full,” she said. “Showcase opportunities are obtained on a first-come, first-serve basis.”

Any business interested in participating should call the chamber office at (770) 887-6461.

Besides a great turnout from businesses, Stewart is also anticipating many visitors will come out.

“We had about 200 guests in 2013 and we are hoping for at least 300 this year,” she said.

“Many of the businesses are business-to-consumer type [establishments],” she said. “This event gives community members an opportunity to meet the businesses located in our community and network with neighbors they may not meet otherwise.”

The event will also include food samples from several area restaurants.

Cost to attend the event as a spectator is $5 for chamber members and $30 for non-members.

Stewart said no advance registration is required to attend the event as a spectator, and payment will be accepted at the door.
