The Forsyth County commission on Thursday held the second public hearing — but postponed a vote to April 4 —on proposed amendments to the local pawnbrokers and pawn shop establishment ordinance.

Businesses owners and the sheriff’s office plan to meet again to discuss the proposed changes, which would increase reporting requirements for brokers.

Also at its meeting, commissioners:

• Postponed a vote on a conditional use permit for Vincent Matthews to operate a dog training business with kennels at a home on Dogwood Lane.

Commissioners have postponed the vote at two consecutive meetings after hearing comments from folks for and against the permit.

• Approved variances for Ryland Group to be able to encroach on setbacks at several lots in an unfinished phase of the Madison subdivision on Post Road.

The developer’s attorney said the variances will allow for larger, more expensive homes to be built.

Note: All votes were 5-0 unless otherwise noted.
