Work has begun to make way for a new RaceTrac gas station in north Forsyth.
Demolition of a small retail center at Hammonds Crossing began Wednesday where one of the Atlanta-based company’s “newest store prototypes” will be.
The 5,000-square-foot store is planned to open at the intersection of Browns Bridge Road (Hwy. 369) and Keith Bridge Road (Hwy. 306) between October and December of this year, according to Megan Shannon, a spokeswoman with the company.
The new store will have more than 40 parking spots and 30,000 square feet of open space and offer a frozen dessert station, large coffee area, free Wi-Fi and “a more shoppable layout” with “ample seating,” Shannon said.
The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners approved plans for the store in February of 2018.
