CUMMING -- A two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Market Place Boulevard and Buford Highway shut down part of the roadway Wednesday, officials said.

One person was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries after a Volkswagen Passat and a Chrysler Town & Country minivan collided near the entrance to Exit 14 of Ga. 400 about 11:30 a.m., according to Deputy Epifanio Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

The agency diverted eastbound traffic on Buford Highway (Hwy. 20), which was closed while crews worked to clear the scene.

A driver and passenger were in each vehicle, including a child in the Passat, Rodriguez said. The child was not the person injured.

Further comment about the cause of the crash was deferred to Georgia State Patrol, which is working the incident and will handle any investigation.
