Authorities are investigating the death of a 49-year-old man whose body was found Monday afternoon at his home near the Midway community.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Capt. Frank Huggins said investigators are treating Guillermo Lira's death "as a homicide."

Family members made the discovery about 1 p.m. Monday, Huggins said, when they came to check on Lira at 5180 Atlanta Highway.

The cause of death has not been released. Huggins declined further comment on the case.

Lira's body has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab, where an autopsy will be performed.
