FLOWERY BRANCH — A Dacula man was shot Friday morning after he reportedly followed a woman back to her home on Maple Valley Drive in southern Hall County and got in a fight with her husband, authorities said.

Corneliu Lazarescu, believed to be in his 70s, suffered bullet wounds Friday morning and was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. He was in stable condition in the intensive care unit following surgery.

Lazarescu faces stalking charges, having allegedly followed the woman back to her Flowery Branch home, according to Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Nicole Bailes.

The woman, believed to be in her 60s, reported to 911 that she believed a man was following her after walking in a Gwinnett County park.

She called her husband, Geoffrey Mack, also believed to be in his 60s, before returning home.

Mack then approached Lazarescu, which escalated into an altercation. Lazarescu suffered nonfatal injuries after shots were fired by Mack, Bailes said.

Blood was visible on the driver-side door of Lazarescu’s white Honda.

“We are currently consulting with the [district attorney’s office] on further charges,” Bailes wrote in an email.

The district attorney will decide whether to charge Geoffrey Mack.
