CUMMING — The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has identified the deputy who was wounded attempting to stop a gunman this morning at the Forsyth County Courthouse as Daniel Rush.

Rush, a 30-year veteran of the force, was shot in the leg by Dennis Ronald Marx of Cumming, who was attempting to storm the courthouse.

Rush posted on a social media site that he is OK. Authorities have said they expect him to make a full recovery.

According to Sheriff Duane Piper, Rush’s response alerted other deputies, who were able to bring down Marx.
