FORSYTH COUNTY — The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is looking for leads in an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday night.

Armed with a handgun, the suspect walked into a Chevron gas station at Matt and Dahlonega Highways about 8:30 p.m. and demanded money.

“He told the clerk that he didn’t want ones or fives and that he was desperate,” said Doug Rainwater, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office. “He was very specific on the types of bills he wanted.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect walked out of the store, headed south on Dahlonega Highway.

Using dogs, Rainwater said the sheriff’s office later determined the suspect “had a vehicle parked close by.”

The suspect is described as a white man, between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. Rainwater said the man had some facial hair on his chin and “old" and "bad” tattoos on his arms.

The gun the suspect used likely is real, so he is considered armed and dangerous. However, Rainwater noted the robbery appears to be an isolated incident.

“There is no reason to believe this was a serial person committing robberies,” he said. “We believe this was an isolated robbery and we’re not investigating others related to this person.”
