A 46-year-old man from Suwanee and a 17-year-old Lambert High School student have been arrested on separate charges involving the alleged distribution of child pornography and sexual exploitation of children.

According to Cpl. Doug Rainwater, spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, 46-year-old Jeffrey Michael Declouet was arrested at noon Thursday for five felony counts of distribution of child pornography and six felony counts of sexual exploitation of children.

Rainwater said 17-year-old Eric Alan Burgess Jr., a junior at Lambert High School, was also arrested late Thursday afternoon, charged as an adult with nine felony counts of sexual exploitation of children.

He said both arrests were made as part of a multistate sting operation called “Operation Southern Impact II,“ which was carried out by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Locally, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office assisted in carrying out the operation here.

In a news release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, it was announced that 34 people were arrested in Georgia during the GBI investigation. There were a total of 76 people arrested in the multistate operation.

“The planning for Operation Southern Impact II began approximately 4 months ago and culminated in 2 days of investigative actions to include search warrant executions, undercover operations, and arrests in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia,” the release stated.

Rainwater said that Burgess was taken into custody after voluntarily surrendering himself to Forsyth authorities—Declouet was located in an apartment in Atlanta and was arrested there.

Both suspects have been taken to the Forsyth County Jail and remain there as of press time. Burgess has a bond of $50,510 and Declouet has a bond of $89,230.
