Authorities have two men from Marietta and Flowery Branch in custody this week for two unconnected cases of rape that were reported by local victims in the past two months.
David Caldwell, 58, of Marietta was arrested by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday for allegedly raping the 20-year-old daughter of his girlfriend in August.
According to Cpl. Doug Rainwater, a sheriff’s office spokesman, Caldwell was arrested by Alpharetta Police during a traffic stop after his alleged victim came forward to their investigators with evidence of the attack.
Wesley Alan Burgess, 19, of Flowery Branch was arrested on Tuesday after teenage female told authorities that she was allegedly raped by him at a party in late July.
Rainwater said that based on interviews with other teens and physical evidence gathered from the victim they were able to issue warrants for Burgess earlier in August and finally arrested him on Tuesday.
Rainwater said both rapes allegedly occurred at residences in the county and involved alcohol.
Caldwell has been charged with strong arm rape, aggravated sodomy and sexual battery. Burgess has been charged with strong arm rape.
Both men are being held at the Forsyth County Jail under no bond.
