The spring ping pong tournament is set for 7 p.m. March 23 and 24 at Norman's Landing, 365 Peachtree Parkway. Cost: $20 per person.

Norman's Landing will hold its spring ping pong tournament on March 23 and 24.

Singles will play the first night and doubles the second, at a cost of $20 per person.

All the money raised will go to Literacy Forsyth, a local nonprofit aimed at raising adult literacy rates.

Bill Norman, owner of the restaurant, said he likes to pick different charities for his biannual ping pong tournaments.

"I just picked [Literacy Forsyth] because I know they do a great job," he said.

Norman has held 26 tournaments, raising between $65,000 and $70,000 for various organizations.

Everyone who participates in this month's tournament will receive a hat and T-shirt.

The winners get lunch or dinner for two at Norman's "favorite restaurant," his own.

He said the event attracts all ages and types of participants, from recreational players to those who have been ranked in the state.

Norman will be playing, too.

"I love ping pong" he said. "I used to win some of the early ones, but now I don't have to worry about it. There's other people that beat me."
