Lambert teacher gives back to military

SOUTH FORSYTH -- Students from across Forsyth County Schools wrote almost 10,000 letters that will be sent to troops overseas on Thanksgiving Day through an Atlanta radio station as part of a program initiated by Lambert High School teacher David Ubriaco, a past recipient of one of such letters.

The program, called Salute, was created with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9143.

“After being a recipient of the Big Thank You campaign during my second deployment in 2007, I wanted to continue providing that same respect for my brothers and sisters-in-arms when I started full-time teaching,” said Ubriaco, pictured with Lambert teachers Stephen Pate and Billy Kieninger. “Now, as a fully separated member from the armed forces, this is what keeps me closely connected to what I loved doing for the initial 10 years of my adult life.”
