Piney Grove Middle School students presented the Forsyth County Animal Shelter with $1,000 as part of the school’s sixth annual Grizzly Great Day of Giving.
Students arrived at the shelter on the morning of May 20 to assist the staff with cleaning the facility and folding the newspaper used in the animal cages.
Later that afternoon, Shelter Coordinator Jaci Kobeszka attended a ceremony at Piney Grove, where students presented her with a $1,000 check for the facility.
“It was not only very helpful to have these students volunteer at the shelter, but also very heartwarming to see our county’s youth take such pride in serving their community,” said Jeanie Curphey, Forsyth County Animal Shelter manager. “We are sincerely appreciative of their time as well as their donation that will certainly assist us in caring for the animals here at the shelter.”
Piney Grove students chose the shelter as one of three charitable organizations that will receive $1,000 from the school.
The Forsyth County Animal Shelter is located just off of Ga. 400 at 4065 County Way in Cumming. The shelter is open for adoptions from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tues.- Sat.
