The Forsyth Central High School baseball team has advanced to the quarterfinals of the state Class AAAA playoffs.
The visiting Bulldogs swept a doubleheader from Lee County on Wednesday night in south Georgia, winning a pair of one-run games.
In the opener, Central held off the Trojans 2-1. In the nightcap, which didn’t start until after 9 p.m., the Bulldogs triumphed 5-4.
With the sweep of Lee County, which is just north of Albany, the Bulldogs advance to face the winner of Alexander and Whitewater next week.
Those teams opened their second-round series with a doubleheader Thursday.
The other Forsyth County prep baseball team that was still alive in the postseason, South Forsyth, was rained out Wednesday.
The War Eagles dropped a doubleheader to No. 1-ranked Greenbrier on Thursday in Evans, northwest of Augusta, to end their season.
