About this series

Scholastic Student Spotlight is a bi-monthly series brought to you by Lennar Atlanta where the Forsyth County News spotlights local students and their scholastic achievements and future goals.

Name: Kelsey Kasischke

School: West Forsyth High School

Grade: Senior

GPA: 4.4

Classes: Georgia Tech distance learning calculus; current AP classes include research, literature, statistics, macroeconomics and physics C.

Next steps: Applied to 16 schools, but top choices are Auburn, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Duke, Harvard and South Carolina to study biomedical engineering.

In school: Beta Club; National Honor Society; DECA; going to the national DECA competition this spring; West’s Star Student this year, which honors the best single-day SAT score and requires the student be in the top 10 percent of the senior class; National Merit semifinalist, waiting to hear who are finalists.

Out of school: Involved in her church youth group and planning to go on mission trips this summer; running.

Future goals: To get a master’s degree in whatever field of study she decides, for which she is currently interested in getting into the “corporate side of biomedical engineering, like integrating sales with the science aspect.”
