Forsyth County News
The latest region alignments from the Georgia High School Association will bring big changes to the high school sports scene in Forsyth County.

North Forsyth and West Forsyth will share a seven-team Region 6-AAAAA with five northern Fulton County schools: Alpharetta, Centennial, Milton, Northview and Roswell.

Three local schools will congregate in a subdivided Region 7-AAAA.

Forsyth Central, Lambert and South Forsyth will share Subregion B with Chattahoochee and Johns Creek, both in north Fulton, as well as Creekview from neighboring Cherokee County.

The other subregion covers four counties in northwest Georgia and includes Cass, Northwest Whitfield, Rome, Sequoyah and Woodland (Bartow).

Pinecrest Academy will join the GHSA as part of a sprawling Region 7-A, a massive 25-team league made up of private, charter and magnet schools.

Schools have until January to request a lateral move to another region within the same classification. Classification assignments are final.

The realignment kicks in next fall.
