SOUTH FORSYTH -- A high school math teacher from Forsyth County was recently recognized by fellow teachers from across Georgia.
Carol Sikes, who has been at South Forsyth High School for the last 10 of her 14 teaching years, was given the Dwight Love Award by the Georgia Council of Teacher Mathematics for being a model of “excellence in the profession and in life.”
Judy Hollandsworth, a British literature, instructional coach and 12th grade team lead who is in media relations at the school on Peachtree Parkway, said Sikes “gives much to others beyond the classroom as a mentor, teacher and leader.”
Sikes is a master teacher with the council. Her experience ranges from teaching AP calculus and AP statistics to coaching the Georgia ARML team made up of math students across the state who compete in nationwide events.
She has also been a Georgia Governor’s Honors Program math teacher for 10 years.
