South Forsyth High School graduate Bryn Murphy has received a prestigious scholarship from the University of Georgia Foundation, which will cover the full cost of tuition at the Athens college.

The Cumming native is one of 22 incoming freshmen selected each year to the Foundation Fellows Program. Murphy is double majoring in international affairs and Spanish.

The class of 2012 Foundation Fellows boasted an average grade-point average of 4.17, SAT score of 1,522 and ACT score of 34.

Foundation Fellows are among the top scholars in the nation, with two recently named as Rhodes Scholars. UGA was the only university in 2008 with two Rhodes Scholars.

Foundation Fellows Scholars participate in a post-freshman summer study abroad program, spring semester travel-study programs, travel-study grants and dinner seminars with faculty from the university.

Students also are mentored by faculty members and senior Foundation Fellows.
