Gov. Sonny Perdue and State Superintendent Kathy Cox have awarded South Forsyth High School with the 2009 Region 7AAAAA Governor's trophy for improvement in SAT scores.

Principal Jason Branch spoke with pride of the achievement.

"We are once again awed at the superior academic performance demonstrated by the student body of South Forsyth High School," Branch said.

"The students, staff and our learning community are excited to accept the Governor's Cup as it reflects the hard work and collaborative efforts of some of the greatest teachers and students in the nation," he said.

South Forsyth will receive a regional trophy and a $1,000 grant for the largest numerical improvement in SAT scores among schools in their GHSA region.

Last year, Forsyth Central High School was a regional recipient of the 2008 Governor's Cup.
