Few professions are held in such high esteem as teachers. One survey found head teacher to be the fourth-most respected profession in the world (behind doctor, lawyer and engineer).

But teachers are rarely celebrated with corresponding fanfare, so the Forsyth County News wants to do our part to remedy that with our new Teacher of the Month contest.

Starting today, readers can nominate a local teacher who works in Forsyth County who deserves to be recognized in the pages of the FCN, as well as on its website and social media platforms.

The selected teacher each month will also receive gifts from Fountain Financial Advisors and Primrose School of Cumming North.

To submit a nomination, go to forsythnews.com/teacher and enter the teacher’s name and school.

Nominations for the September Teacher of the Month are open until 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Voting for starts at 12:01 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11 and runs until 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24.
