Conference center is a great new asset

Forsyth County News

In the past, local event planners searching for a facility for any sort of large gathering knew that their first call had to be to a venue somewhere outside of Forsyth County.

Not any more.

With the opening of the Forsyth Conference Center at Lanier Technical College, the county now has a modern, state-of-the-art event facility capable of handling virtually any sort of gathering.

The center was a smashing success in its debut earlier this month when it played host to the annual Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce banquet, which ironically in past years has had to travel outside of the county to celebrate Forsyth’s business successes.

The story behind the construction of the college’s new healthcare building and conference center is one of perseverance and determination. For more than seven years, college officials, local politicians at both the state and county level and a number of community leaders worked to secure state approval and funding for the facility.

The end result was definitely worth the effort. The new healthcare building will contribute tremendously to potential course offerings at the college, and the conference center is certain to be a tremendous asset to the county.

No longer will high schools have to go elsewhere for school proms, or businesses to hold strategic meetings.

With capacity for up to 750 people seated at tables for a meal, or 1,200 in lecture style seating, the conference center is certain to quickly become a destination with which many local residents are familiar.

The center has 14,000 square feet of conference space with additional classroom space available. A variety of staging and seating options are available, as is the most modern in audio/visual equipment and technology. The large event space can be divided into eight rooms for smaller meetings.

It certainly has the potential to be a boon to the county’s economy, both by allowing local groups to stay in the county for special events, and by bringing groups from outside the county to Forsyth.

We encourage all of those who are looking for space for an event to consider the new Forsyth Conference Center. With its convenient location off Ga. 400, it is the perfect venue for conventions, conferences, charity events, banquets, trade shows, weddings, social gatherings and public events.

The conference center is another jewel in the county’s crown. It serves as testament to what can be done when a community realizes a need, mobilizes to meet that need and ultimately celebrates its accomplishment.

We predict that in a year or two the people of Forsyth County will wonder how they ever managed without a venue like the new facility at Lanier Tech.
