Registration for Forsyth County Parks and Recreation summer camps opens this weekend.
Starting on Saturday, registration will open for more than 100 camps with different themes for ages 3 to 18. Camps will be recreation day camps, sports camps, Safety Town, adventure camps and specialty camps.
The recreation day camps are week-long programs at Central, Fowler and Old Atlanta parks and will have indoor and outdoor activities such as games, art, fitness, special guests, weekly field trips and other activities. Camps are for ages 6-10, cost $110 and are held at recreation centers 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Themes include H20 Explosion, X-treme Science, Back Yard Olympics, Treasure Hunters, Stars and Stripes and Camp Carnival.
For all ages, sports camps will be hosted for baseball, basketball, cheerleading, gymnastics, football, lacrosse, softball, tennis, volleyball and wrestling at various parks locations.
Safety town is for ages 4-5 to learn safety tips, including fire safety, water safety, car and bus safety, stranger danger, poison safety, gun safety and others. Kids will learn about traffic while driving carts through the child-sized “Safety Town Village.”
The camp will be held at Sharon Springs Park each week in June and parents can choose 9a.m.-noon or 1-4 p.m. sessions. The cost is $85 per session.
Adventure camps including Little Explorers Camp, Wet and Wild Adventure Camp, Outdoor Adventure Camp, Climbing Camp, Whitewater Kayak Camp and science and nature camps will be held at Sawnee Mountain Preserve. All camps focus on outdoors and environmental education, though costs, hours and ages vary.
Specialty camps will also be held to let kids try new things, including culinary arts camp, automotive camp, babysitter camp, etiquette camp, magic camp, archery camp and others. Similarly, costs, hours and ages vary.
Registration for camps can be done online at Forsythco.com/parks, in person at the rec centers at Central, Fowler and Old Atlanta parks Mondays through Fridays 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. or by fax or mail. There are additional charges for non-county residents.
