Forsyth County Clerk of Court Greg Allen has been named as Clerk of the Year by the Superior Court Clerk Association Georgia during their annual meeting and conference held last week.

According to a news release from the association, the superior court clerks of the 159 counties in Georgia voted Allen as the recipient of the 2018 Stetson F. Bennett Award in recognition of his “outstanding leadership and dedication.”

Allen has served as Forsyth County Clerk of Courts since 2009 and since his election has made several different technological innovations to the office including electronic real estate document storage, updated jury management technology and a new court case management system, the release stated.

In the release, Association President and Fannin County Clerk of Court Dana Chastain praised Allen’s efforts and stated that his work had benefited both the people of Forsyth County and the state of Georgia.

“It is an indication of his dedication to the job that he is the first clerk in 25 years and only the second clerk ever to win the award in his first year of eligibility,” Chastain said. The release adds that clerks must complete two full terms in office to be eligible for the award.

During the presentation of his award, Allen was read a number of congratulatory letters from community leaders including Forsyth County Commission Chairman Todd Levent, District 4 Commissioner Cindy Mills, Forsyth County Superior Court judges and Probate Judge Lynwood D. Jordan.

“He’s been a great clerk for our county,” Mills said. “His skills have saved the taxpayers so much time and money.”

The release stated that Allen was surprised and honored by the award, and that he was proud to represent county residents.

“This award would not have been possible without the work of my outstanding staff at the courthouse. They work very hard to take great care of constituents and records, and are so open-minded and energetic when it comes to introducing new efficiencies to the office,” Allen said. “I am proud of the contributions of my employees, and this award signals that we are doing our work the right way.”
