CUMMING — A stubborn house fire Wednesday night caused heavy damage to a home on Adair Boulevard in Cumming.
Firefighters responding to the call reported seeing a heavy column of black smoke, and said the house was fully involved when they arrived to the call, which was dispatched about 6:15 p.m.
Fire Division Chief Barry Head said that five people live in the house, as well as two house guests, but no one was home at the time of the blaze.
According to Head, neighbors who reported the fire were able to free the family dog.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
