FORSYTH COUNTY — The Forsyth County Lions Club is collecting old eyeglasses, including prescription and non-prescription sunglasses and readers.

According to a news release from the club, used eyeglasses collection boxes are set up at more than a dozen Forsyth businesses and churches. A list of those sites can be found online at www.forsythcountylions.org.

In addition to used eyeglasses, the club also accepts used cellphones and hearing aids at each of the locations.

According to the club, the cellphones are sold to a recycler and the proceeds go toward helping provide eye surgeries to those in need.

Hearing aids are refurbished and provided to residents who otherwise cannot afford to buy their own.

Founded in 1961, the local Lions Club meets every first and third Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Golden Corral restaurant on Market Place Boulevard. Guests are welcome.
