How a copy of the Forsyth County News reached France

Forsyth County resident Jenny Gifford recently took a copy of the Forsyth County News all the way to France.

When Gifford read the June 30 edition of the paper, she tucked it away. On the front page was an article about Jim Phillips, a local resident and veteran who jumped out of an airplane over Normandy on June 5 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day. Gifford knew she was going on a two-week vacation with three friends to France in July, which would include a visit to Normandy, so she brought the paper with her.

On July 20, Gifford posed in front of the entrance of a museum exhibit for a photo with the FCN.
