A local church will offer a free movie night Saturday.

The River United Methodist Church will present an open-air showing of “Night the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” at Lambert High School, 805 Nichols Road.

The event will start at 8 p.m. on the school’s practice field. The movie will begin at sundown.

Families are invited to bring their low-back lawn chairs and blankets to watch the film.

Pastor Nancy Johnson said that the evening is “offered as a celebration of the end of summer vacation and the beginning of a new school year.”

Classes start Monday in the Forsyth County school system.

Pizza and other snacks will be available for purchase.

“As a neighborhood church, the River hopes to strengthen families and encourage friendship throughout activities as well as worship and learning opportunities,” Johnson said.

“The congregation is delighted to be able to offer this family-friendly evening to its neighbors.”
