Commissioners approve new neighborhood in north Forsyth

A new neighborhood has been approved in north Forsyth.

On Thursday, Forsyth County Commissioners voted 4-0 , with District 2 Commissioner Dennis Brown absent, a rezoning from  from Agricultural District (A1) to Single Family Residential District (RES2) on about 116 acres for 123 lots, meaning a density of just more than one lot per acre, on Jewel Bennett and Conner roads.

Tom Brown, the county’s director of planning and community development, said county staff had not initially been supportive of the plans due to a lack of open space and lot issues but had worked out issues with the district’s commissioner, Cindy Jones Mills.

“People working on this have worked really hard to come to an agreement,” Mills said.

Amenities at the development will include a playground area, pool and cabana.

The applicant for the property was Conner Family Farm, LLC.
