Volunteers are needed to work the polls at the Nov. 4 General Election in Forsyth County.

County residents who are at least 16 years old and a citizen of the United States may attend an informational "meet and greet" session to learn more.

Sessions are scheduled for 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sept. 3.

Because there are a limited number of seats at each meeting, those interested must RSVP to learn the meeting location. Contact Betsy Brown at (770) 781-2118, Ext. 3, or bmbrown@forsythco.com.

The election will be the fourth this year, following the Feb. 5 presidential preference, July 15 primary and Aug. 5 primary runoff elections.

In addition to the presidential race, the fall election will feature contests for many key offices, including U.S. Senate and House as well as state posts.

Locally, the ballot will feature contests for one seat each on the Forsyth County commission and school board.

Also, there are two bond referendums, one to fund construction of a new detention center and the other for a new sheriff's headquarters.
