Missing man’s body found with van submerged in Lake Lanier

The body of a missing Forsyth County man was recovered from Lake Lanier over the weekend, authorities say.

According to a Forsyth County sheriff’s Office spokesman, the body of Van Dobbs was found inside his minivan, submerged in Lake Lanier near Beaver Ruin Road off Pilgrim Mill Road on Sunday.

Dobbs, 56, was last seen driving a silver 2002 Dodge Caravan on June 5 and was not seen or heard from until his body was discovered.

Authorities say that Dobbs’s death is currently under investigation and more details could follow.
