The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has announced that no charges will be filed in connection with a July 22 wreck that claimed the life of a 21-year-old Forsyth County woman.

Kirsti Sue Baiel died after the scooter she was driving was struck by a Chrysler 300 about 10:45 a.m. on Spot Road at McCoy Circle, northwest of Cumming.

Her death was the first of two last week on Forsyth County roads, with both involving a motorcycle or scooter.

On Friday, a 19-year-old man was killed in a collision between a pickup truck and a motorcycle on Heardsville Road near Pisgah Road in northwestern Forsyth.

In the July 22 crash, Christopher Rubessa, 20, was traveling west on Spot when he slowed for a red light, according to sheriff’s reports.

After the light turned green, he accelerated and struck Baiel on a Chejiang Jonway scooter as she was turning left from McCoy Circle onto Spot and into Rubessa’s path.

Baiel, who was wearing a helmet was taken to Northside Hospital-Forsyth, where she later died as a result of massive trauma, authorities said.

Rubessa, a Forsyth County resident, was not injured in the collision.

An account has been established at Regions Bank for the family of Baiel, a 2010 North Forsyth High School graduate.
