No injuries were reported in a fire Thursday night that destroyed part of a town home on Pilgrim Lake Drive near the Cumming Aquatic Center.

Forsyth County Fire Capt. Jason Shivers said the blaze appears to be accidental, though the cause and origin remain under investigation.

One family was displaced as a result of the fire, Shivers said, and received assistance from the American Red Cross.

Shivers said nearby Pilgrim Mill Road was closed during the incident to allow firefighters to use the nearest hydrant, which was across the street.

Firefighters were summoned about 11:36 p.m.

Shivers said two adults and two juveniles were inside the home when it caught fire, but all of them made it outside safely.

The town home was one of three in a unit. Shivers said the flames did not spread to the neighboring residences, though they may have received some smoke and water damage.

"There is heavy fire loss to the top floor bedroom, but beyond that the rest of the property is going to be salvageable," he said.
