DAWSONVILLE — A small plane carrying a single occupant crashed into the tree line of Goodson Road in Dawsonville on Sunday around noon.
Dawson County Emergency Services Chief Lanier Swafford said the pilot of the plane was out of the aircraft when emergency services arrived and was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. He was released on Sunday.
According to Dawson County Sheriff Jeff Johnson, the road remained closed until 8:50 p.m.
Johnson said the pilot took off from the airport in Gainesville.
The vintage 1940s two-seater plane was an Erco 415-C Ercoupe.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
