An electric services provider based in Cumming is offering a program designed to help members who have a Wi-Fi-enabled programmable thermostat save money.
Sawnee EMC, which provides electricity to about 171,173 accounts in seven north Georgia counties, has open enrollment through June 16 for Smart Savers, a program that first launched last summer as a way to allow participants to receive an incentive for signing up their thermostats.
Members who enroll their thermostat for the first time will receive a one-time $50 rebate per thermostat, said Cindy Badgett, director of external affairs. Members will also receive ongoing annual rebates for subsequent years they remain enrolled in the program.
“New for 2017, the NEST thermostats will be considered an acceptable thermostat and allowed entry into the Smart Savers Program,” Badgett said. “Sawnee EMC members with a NEST thermostat should be able to enroll their thermostat(s) prior to May 1.”
Other thermostats eligible include Honeywell, Lux, Alarm.com, Radio Thermostat, Sensi and Ecobee models.
