A 22-year-old Dahlonega woman is accused of drinking and driving, hitting a utility pole and injuring her passenger, then continuing to drive almost half a mile before stopping in the roadway, according to the Georgia State Patrol. The passenger in the car was killed.

Lindsey C. Le Barron, of Dahlonega, was driving a 2012 GMC Canyon north on Hightower Church Road northwest of Dahlonega when the truck traveled off the east side of the road and hit the utility pole just south of Miles Berry Road.

Jason M. Caldwell, also of Dahlonega, sustained fatal injuries, according to the patrol.

Le Barron was found in the driver’s seat with no apparent injuries. She is charged with first degree homicide by vehicle, DUI, reckless driving, failing to maintain lane and not wearing a seat belt.
