Woman killed in Sunday morning wreck
Third fatality in less than a week

A 62-year-old Forsyth County woman died Sunday morning after a single-vehicle wreck on Drew Road near West Forsyth High School.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Gloria M. Lawrence was taken to Northside Hospital- Forsyth, where she was pronounced dead.

The crash, which occurred about 8 a.m., remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.

But according to Michael Nelson, traffic specialist investigator, Lawrence had an apparent medical issue, which caused her eastbound 2010 Hyundai Elantra to leave Drew Road and strike a fence.

It was the third fatal wreck in less than a week on county roads and 11thof the year.

On July 22, a 21-year-old woman died after the scooter she was driving was struck by a Chrysler 300 on Spot Road at McCoy Circle, northwest of Cumming.

Then on Friday, a 19-year-old man was killed in a collision between a pickup truck and a motorcycle near Heardsville and Pisgah roads in northwestern Forsyth.
