SOUTH FORSYTH – The body of a woman was found near McFarland Parkway/Exit 12 off Ga. 400 Saturday, authorities said.

Hunters apparently saw the body in the woods between the BP and RaceTrac gas stations around noon, according to Doug Rainwater, a spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman was thought to be white or Hispanic, but an age or cause of death was not immediately known as the investigation continues.

Someone who permits hunters to use the area privately owns the land where the body was found, he said. Although heavily commercialized and populated roadways surround the area, the hunters were “deep in the woods” around Ridgeland Parkway.

Rainwater said other circumstances of the incident, such as a time of death or whether foul play is suspected, have not yet been determined.
